Forsyth County woman mistaken for a wanted suspect

A woman in Forsyth County was mistakenly detained early Monday after having the same name as a wanted suspect. The woman, who did not want to be identified, told WSB-TV that deputies detained her at her home and told her they had a warrant for her arrest.

When they first arrived and she asked the charges, she was told she was being arrested on charges of robbery and intimidation. She explained that she knew someone else in the county that had her same name, but despite trying to convince them she was not the guilty party, officers put her in handcuffs.

It took about an hour for officers to realize their mistake, according to WSB-TV, and an investigation into the incident has begun.

According to the source, Forsyth County Sheriff Ron Freeman has spoken with the family and will meet with them at a later date.
