GSP: Charges pending in Cleveland wreck that seriously hurt motorcyclists

Two Dahlonega residents were seriously injured when a car driven by a Cleveland man pulled into the path of their motorcycle Wednesday night.

The wreck, on Ga. 115 at Town Creek Road on the west side of Cleveland, happened about 7:30 p.m.

Robert Lee Martin, 43, and Shelly L. Doolittle Martin, 39, both suffered serious injuries in the wreck, said Cpl. Joshua Hedden of Georgia State Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville.

A 2007 Toyota Scion driven by Hayden Cooper Walters, 20, of Cleveland was traveling east on Town Creek Road and failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection of Town Creek Road and Ga. 115, causing the Scion to strike the motorcycle in the right side with its front, Hedden said.

Charges are pending, Hedden said.

The GSP Troop B Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team assisted in the investigation.

The wreck shut down the road for several hours.
