A grocery store on Atlanta Highway was robbed at gunpoint Thursday night, and Gainesville police are searching for a suspect.
Police described the suspect as a Hispanic male, 5-foot-10 to six-feet tall, wearing a rag over his face, a dark hat, a sweatshirt over a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
The suspect entered Meeks Grocery, in the 300 block of Atlanta Highway around 8:45 p.m., drew a handgun and demanded the store clerk hand over money, a news release from the police department said. Police didn’t say how much money was taken.
After receiving the money, the suspect fled the store in an unknown direction.
Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 770-535-3783.
