Assistant police chief charged with DUI resigns

By The Associated Press

CLARKSTON, Ga. (AP) — An assistant police chief in Georgia who was arrested on a DUI charge has resigned from his position.

News outlets report Clarkston police announced the resignation of Thadius Brown on Friday. The 11-year veteran of the city's police force was arrested in Henry County on Aug. 30.

Clarkston police Chief Christine Hudson says Brown was allegedly pulled over for turning right on red at a corner where it was prohibited. WXIA-TV reports the responding officer said he could smell alcohol, Brown's eyes were bloodshot and his speech was slightly slurred.

Hudson says Brown submitted his resignation Wednesday, a day before an internal affairs investigation was set to begin.

It's unclear whether Brown had an attorney who could speak for him.
