Officials release identity of man in fatal motorcycle accident Sunday

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the motorcycle accident on McEver Road near Flower Branch that left a Winder man dead.

Chase Charles Mantel, 26, died at the scene of the accident after he lost control of his motorcycle Sunday, Aug. 18 around 6:50 p.m.

According to a press release from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Mantel was riding his Harley Davidson southbound on McEver Road near Oak Leaf Drive when he crossed the center line.

Mantel laid the motorcycle down in the northbound lane and was thrown from the bike when an oncoming Ford F650 truck in the northbound lane hit him. The driver of the vehicle ran the truck off the road in attempt to avoid Mantel but was unable to avoid the collision.

No charges are expected. The case remains under investigation.

Officials are asking anyone who witnessed the accident to contact Sgt. John Morgan at 678-618-1235.
