Helen hosts final day to see hot air balloons

By Joy Holmes Multimedia Journalist

The Helen to Atlantic Balloon Race continues in Helen, but Saturday evening wraps up the final events.

Hundreds of people gathered in the German town to watch the colorful bulbs float across the North Georgia sky which started on Thursday.

The race winner will be announced later in the evening following the final day of balloon flying. People from the public will have their chance to see the mountain views around 7:00 p.m. where pilots will give tethered rides for a small fee.

WDUN's Joy Holmes was hands-on over the last couple of days. She rode passenger to the Lynch Balloon on Thursday's first balloon flight, a video can be seen here.

But on the video provided at the top of this article, Holmes gives a different perspective on the unique sport.
