While the GBI continues to investigate, leaders at the Forsyth County Sheriff's office fire one of their sergeants accused of voter fraud.
Cpl. Doug Rainwater confirms the termination of Sgt. James Cutcliff on the 19th of April.
He was placed on administrative leave last month after allegations that he voted illegally in elections in the city of Cumming by using the address of the county's jail as his own.
The AJC reports Cutcliff was fired for lying to internal affairs officers when he was questioned about the accusations.
He was set to appear before the county election board Tuesday, but the hearing got canceled until the GBI investigation can be completed.
