Ricky Weiss and Brandon Overton won big over the weekend with victories in Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series action.
Weiss was the winner on Friday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tenn., while Overton scored the win on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Ala.
On Friday night, Weiss, of Headingley, Manitoba, Canada, recorded his first career series win and becoming the first series international winner.
Weiss took the lead from pole sitter Ashton Winger on lap 11 and cruised from there to the victory.
Chris Madden came home in the second, with Winger in third, Jimmy Owens in fourth and Brandon Overton in fifth.
On Saturday night, Brandon Overton took the win on the NASCAR race weekend at Talladega Short Track, just across the road from Talladega Superspeedway.
It marks the fourth career series win for the Evans speedster.
Ashton Winger led the opening lap, with Overton moving to the point on lap two. Ashton Horton moved into the mix, with the three drivers battling throughout the 40–lap feature.
In the end, it was Overton taking the victory, with Winger in second, Horton in third, Kyle Beard in fourth and Riley Hickman in fifth.
