Gainesville firefighters extinguished a brush fire on Highway 129 at Monroe Drive Friday morning.
Fire Division Chief Keith Smith said the fire started about 11:00 and burned approximately one half acre. He said they used equipment from four trucks to extinguish the fire.
The cause of the fire is not known.
