Five departments battle fire at three-story Lula home

The cause of a fire that destroyed a large Lula home Saturday is under investigation.

On Saturday, March 16, at 1:42 a.m., Banks County Fire/EMS personnel were dispatched to 232 Antioch Drive, Lula, for a reported structure fire.

“Upon arrival, they found a single-family, three-story home with heavy fire conditions showing,” said Banks County Fire/EMS Chief Steve Nichols.

Due to the distance from the nearest hydrant, mutual aid was requested from several area jurisdictions.

Habersham County, Hall County and Baldwin Fire Department assisted with water supply, while Lee Arrendale State Prison Fire Department provided personnel.

The homeowners were home at the time of the fire, but no injuries were reported, according to Nichols.

“The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation b the Banks County Fire Department,” Nichols said.

Personnel remained on scene until 9:39 a.m.
