Truck removed from Lake Lanier in Dawson County

Dawson County authorities removed a truck from Lake Lanier at Thompson Creek Park Tuesday morning.

Dawson County Emergency Services, Sheriff's Office, the Hall County Sheriff's Office Dive Team and the Department of Natural Resources responded to the park shortly after 11 a.m. after a 911 call from workers on the lake, according to a press release from Dawson County officials.

The responding teams were able to remove a silver 2009 Toyota Tocoma from the lake. At this point, there are no known victims and the name of the owner of the truck is being withheld.

The Dawson County Sheriff's Office is investigating, and the how the truck ended up in the lake has not yet been determined.

The DNR had negative findings on their side sonar scans and the Hall County dive team did not find anything during an area grid search. Dawson County Fire will conduct shoreline sweeps of the area once a day for the next seven days, as well.
