Results are in for naming Forsyth County's 11th middle school

Voting closed for Forsyth County's new middle school and one name clearly got the most votes.

Director of Communications Jennifer Caracciolo told the board how many people took part in the voting. "So, we had about twenty thousand people vote, which is really what you want when you're looking at a population of 220,000 people," she said. "You want about 10% to 15% of your population to vote."

She gave details about the top three choices and said, "Hendricks had 15,000 plus of the vote. Cobb had 1,600 of the vote and Drew had 1,500 of the vote. Of course, Hendricks is named after deceased board member Don Hendricks."

Some people added addition names via a write-in vote, but the number of votes wasn't significant.

The board will officially decide on the new name at their regular board meeting next week.
