Georgia lawmakers who serve on the 20-member House Governmental Affairs Committee voted to set the quorum necessary to hold a meeting at just four members Tuesday morning.
An attempt by democrat House Minority Leader Bob Trammell of Luthersville to require 8 members before a meeting could be held was defeated along party lines, according to the AJC.
Republicans say the vote resulted from past attempts by democrats to control the committee through walk-outs.
Opponents say it allows a small group of republicans to pass legislation without any representation from the opposing party.
This committee will likely be responsible for creating legislation surrounding voter access and ballot security.
