SUNDAY EDITION: Around Northeast Georgia

*Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful is the recipient of the 2019/2020 Governor’s Circle Award. The award, presented by the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation during its 2019 Awards Luncheon in Atlanta, recognizes "exemplary performance" in litter reduction, waste minimization, and community greening.

*Malia Bolt, owner of Purple House Gallery in Gainesville, won the Larson Juhl Design Star competition in 2017. As part of her winnings, a portion of the profits from the first year of sales was donated to a charity of her choice. Bolt chose the Northeast Georgia Health System Foundation as her beneficiary and designated the gift to be used by Northeast Georgia Physicians Group for its Dementia Support Group.

*William Wright, Barrow County Emergency Services 911 Manager, has been selected to be on the Intrado’s Inaugural Emergency Communications Advisory Board. This national board brings together a select group of Public Safety Professionals to share ideas and input to help guide the innovation within Intrado,  Intrado is an international communication business located in Omaha, Nebraska, that works to deliver technology solutions and services public safety agencies.

*North Georgia Technical College received three top awards honoring board members and volunteers at the annual Technical College System of Georgia Leadership Conference in Savannah recently.  Click here for full details.

*The Gainesville High School JROTC cadets volunteered their time by giving back to the community through Operation Christmas Child, a global ministry of the Samaritan's Purse. The cadets met at  Lakewood Baptist Church, the regional collection center, to load thousands of shoeboxes destined for children around the world.

*And, do you remember the last White Christmas in Gainesville and other parts of north Georgia?  It happened in 2010.
