One person died and another was detained following a shooting on Ga. 323 in Banks County Friday night, but officials aren’t releasing much information at this time.
“On Friday evening at approximately 6:45 p.m., Banks County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call involving a shooting in the 800 block area of Highway 323,” according to Banks County Sheriff’s Capt. Carissa McFaddin. “A deceased male was located at the scene. A person of interest has been detained and the investigation has been turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.”
Sheriff’s office personnel are securing the scene due to inclement weather, according to McFaddin. Further investigative processing will resume Sunday morning.
“Due to this incident being an active investigation, we are unable to comment or provide further information until released by the GBI,” McFaddin said. “Thank you for your patience as we work together to complete a thorough investigation.”
