Gwinnett County school leaders approve $17 million dollar school expansion in Grayson

Gwinnett County school leaders approved a new contract to expand the capacity of the Grayson High School.

The board voted to approve a $17 million dollar contract with Toccoa-based Bowen & Watson to build a new facility on campus.

The Gwinnett Daily Post reports the expansion project will make room at the school for 875 new students for the 2021-2022 school year.

The 125,000 sq. ft. building will offer 44 instructional units. It will be located behind the school and between the existing building and the football field.

Funding for the project was included in Gwinnett County Public Schools' 2017 Building Program funded by SPLOST V.
