FBI: Man from Cumming to face terrorist charges

The Joint Terrorism Task Force, led by the FBI, arrested a 21 year-old man from Cumming after learning of his plans to attack federal buildings.

U.S. Attorney BJ Pak said a tipster alerted them to Hasher Jallal Taheb's plans back in March of 2018.

"His alleged intent was to attack the White House and other targets of opportunity in the Washington D.C. area using explosive devices including an improvised explosive device and an anti-tank rocket," according to Pak.

Pak said that the public was never in any danger. He explained, "All potential threats have been neutralized and have been under control from the inception of this case. There were no threats posed to any targets located in the northern district of Georgia nor was the upcoming Super Bowl a target of his alleged activity."

Taheb appeared briefly in federal court in Atlanta Wednesday.
