Softball: Chestatee edges out West Hall; East Hall knocks out Lumpkin

Chestatee grabbed the lead late in the game in a 5-4 victory over West Hall on Thursday.

The Lady War Eagles' Morgan Hunt singled to drive in the winning run in the top of the sixth.

Chestatee got things started in the second inning when Elizabeth Eddins singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Eddins also proved the winning pitcher for the Lady War Eagles, allowing three hits and no runs over 4 1/3 innings. She also struck out seven and walked none. Isabel Long started the game for Chestatee, lasting 2 2/3 innings while allowing three hits and four runs and striking out one

The Lady War Eagles tallied nine hits on the day. Hunt, Katie Palmieri, and Eddins each racked up multiple hits for Chestatee. Hunt went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Chestatee War Eagles Varsity in hits.

The Lady Vikings claimed the win on Thursday thanks in large part to six runs in the fourth inning. Alexis Burce, Carley Cox, Gracie Smith, and Macy Banks each drove in runs during the push.

Burce singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run; Cox singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run; Smith was struck by a pitch, driving in a run; and Banks hit into a fielder's choice to score a run.

Banks also led the Lady Vikings to victory in the circle, lasting 7 innings while allowing 11 hits and five runs and striking out six.

East Hall tallied nine hits in the game. Cox (3-for-5), Burce, and Banks each racked up multiple hits for the Lady Vikings.

Lumpkin County tallied 11 hits on the day.
