It was an exciting night of short track racing on Saturday night, as the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series did battle on the high banks at Bristol Motor Speedway.
In this week's edition of the Hard Left Turn podcast, Around the Track editor Brandon Reed and NASCAR reporter Pete McCole have a look at the race, including:
-Kurt Busch finally scores his first win of the 2018 season, finally ending the question of "When will you win like your brother Kyle has?" Plus, old style, push and shove racing seems to have returned at Bristol.
-Kurt's brother, Kyle, had an off night, to say the least. From an early spin to a run in with Martin Truex, Jr. to a cut tire that sent him into the wall, it was not the race the Kyle Busch hoped for. Brandon and Pete discuss why.
-The "Big Three" of Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex, Jr. and Kyle Busch had nights that they would probably all rather forget. We take a look at some of the issues they faced.
-Dawsonville, Georgia's Chase Elliott had a very successful night, carrying momentum into the off-weekend and the rest of the regular season.
-IndyCar driver Robert Wickens had a terrible crash in Sunday's Verizon IndyCar Series race at Pocono Raceway, leaving him hospitalized. Pete and Brandon discuss the safety aspects that the IndyCar Series has succeded with in the past several years.
-With the Cup Series taking the weekend off, we preview the weekend's racing action for the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Road America and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.
