Raid of Atlanta gas station yields drugs in coffee maker

By The Associated Press

ATLANTA (AP) — Police say an Atlanta gas station store's cappuccino maker housed an unusual ingredient: drugs.

Atlanta police Officer Kensley Gachette tells WSB-TV that a Chevron in southeast Atlanta was raided Aug. 9, targeted by police because of "all the violence and all the drugs that was coming out of this location."

Gachette says police found drugs in the cappuccino machine, shelves and amid potato chips. He says officers also found crack cocaine and MDMA.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Georgia Department of Agriculture and Georgia Lottery assisted with the raid, which also yielded the discovery of illegal cash payouts, illegal alcohol sales and outdated food stocked on shelves.

The Chevron has since been closed. It's unclear how many people have been charged. The station didn't include comment from the owners.
