Proposed multi-faceted, age-restricted village to go before Braselton Planning Commission Monday

A mixed-use senior living community is up for discussion Monday in Braselton at the Planning Commission meeting.

Planning and Development Director Kevin Keller said the "Friendship Village" development at 2846 Friendship Road is unique for the area.

"It's a senior-oriented development, well, not just that. It also has a regular commercial component. The primary use is senior-oriented development and it has a variety of different types of living products and uses," said Keller.

The proposed development would feature 177 detached, single family homes, 120 independent living spaces, 50 assisted living spaces and 30 memory care spaces, as well as a roughly 39,000 square foot commercial development.

"We do have senior-oriented developments, but nothing that combines all these different facets," Keller said.

The commission will meet and discuss the annexation and rezoning request, and if recommended, Keller said Friendship Village would head to the city council in May.
