Soccer: Chestatee girls clinch playoffs; East Hall boys edge Dawson; GHS girls, Johnson boys win

GAINESVILLE — The Chestatee High girls soccer team defeated West Hall 5-0 on Tuesday to clinch a second straight state playoff berth.

The Lady War Eagles' Vanessa Camacho and Kyleigh Drew each bagged two goals, while Janice Martinez added a lone strike to secure the win at Chestatee. 

Drew also provided two assist, while Camacho and Genesis Reyes also each set up a goal. 

Chestatee closes out the regular season on Friday against Creekview. The Lady War Eagles will begin state tournament play on April 26.


EAST HALL BOYS 2,
DAWSON COUNTY 1

Already Region 7-3A champs, the fourth-ranked Vikings (12-2-2, 6-0 Region 7-3A) edged the Tigers on Tuesday in Rabbittown.

Sergio Turcios scored both goals for East Hall, with assists coming from Geizi Barrientos and Carlos Pulido.

Oscar Rosas produced 10 saves in goal on the night.

The Vikings close out the regular season on Friday against Northwest Whitfield in Rabbittown.


GAINESVILLE GIRLS 3,
LAKEVIEW 2

The Lady Red Elephants fended off the Lady Lions on Tuesday at City Park. 

Amayia Lukie, Symone Turner and Isabela Portes each scored goals for Gainesville, while Kate Bush anchored the Lady Red Elephants' defense. 

Gainesville goalkeeper Marlyn Blanco also made some key saves, for the Lady Red Elephants (6-10), who will enter the state playoffs as the No. 4 seed from Region 8-6A, beginning on April 24.

Meanwhile, for Lakeview, Meredith Tucker scored off an Esther Suen assist. And Hannah Perkins scored after Tucker flicked on the ball from a long Hannah Hicks throw-in.

Thanks to Wesleyan defeating Towns County on Tuesday, the Lady Lions (7-7) also clinched their fourth straight state playoff berth on Tuesday.

Lakeview plays host to Wesleyan at 5 p.m. Friday to determine the third/fourth seed for the postseason.


JOHNSON BOYS 8,
JACKSON COUNTY 0 

Rigo Campa, Michael Arcia and Villanel Albarran each scored twice for the Knights in a blowout win on Tuesday.

Joshua Elizalde and Juan Carlos Gomez each scored once for Johnson

Campa and Anthony Fleshman also each provided an assist.

Isias Castaneda maintained the shutout in goal.

EAST HALL 0

The Lady Tigers pounced on the Lady Vikings on Tuesday in Rabbittown.

Chela Aviles, recorded 12 saves on the night for East Hall in goal.
