CLARKESVILLE — Clarkesville Fire Department announced Thursday afternoon it has received a more than $27,000 grant that will be used to purchase rescue equipment.
The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation awarded the department a grant to purchase new extrication equipment.
The equipment being purchased will be the eDraulic line of tools manufactured by Hurst. The eDraulic tools do not require external power units or hoses to operate. That feature will allow the tools to be deployed in areas that were not accessible due to restrictions caused by either the power unit or the hoses.
Faster deployment is a benefit of these tools as well.
Setting up a power unit and connecting hoses takes up time. By being able to skip this step, personnel can begin rescue operations sooner.
“Clarkesville Fire Department is grateful that the Foundation picked us as a recipient and is honored to be part of group of departments that they have supported,” Fire Chief Jason Poole said Thursday.
In 2005, the Firehouse Subs founders established the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation with the mission of providing funding, lifesaving equipment, and educational opportunities to first responders and public safety organizations. Through the non-profit 501(c)(3), Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has granted more than $33 million to hometown heroes in 46 states, Puerto Rico and Canada, including more than $2.1 million in Georgia.
