Murrayville residents face drug charges after Baldwin traffic stop

BALDWIN — An alert Baldwin police sergeant arrested two Murrayville residents on various drug charges last week.

“Sgt. Cannon ran the vehicle tag and it came back that the registered owner had a warrant,” Baldwin Police Chief Charles Webb told AccessWDUN. “He observed the registered owner get into the vehicle at the Kangaroo on Highway 365, so he caught up to the vehicle and made the stop. He searched the vehicle due to the strong odor of marijuana inside the vehicle, and located several drugs and paraphernalia, including approximately five ounces of crystal meth.”

The traffic stop occurred at 1:16 a.m. Thursday, March 29, on Ga. 365 at the Level Grove Road exit.

As a result of the traffic stop, Luther Troy Summerfield, 40, of Murrayville was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance, possession and use of drug-related objects, and the outstanding warrant was served on him, Habersham County Detention Center records show.

Chassy Leigh Abbott, 28, of Murrayville was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug-related objects, and possession of a controlled substance, detention center records show.
