TOCCOA — Interim Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize says two suspects allegedly involved in an early-morning shooting in January have been arrested.

Isiah Wall and Shawn Mayfield, both of Toccoa, were charged with aggravated assault after shooting Dennis Bradley Cromer, 38, of Martin, in the hand on the morning of Jan. 19.

Mize provided details of the arrests.

“It was determined through the investigation that these two matched the description and were identified by our victim as being the aggressors in his case,” Mize said. “GBI was able to take the warrants and close out that case due to the information that we had through the investigation.”

During the investigation, it was determined that Cromer was meeting the two men on Oriole for a drug sale and was shot after the transaction.

Cromer drove himself to the Exxon station, located at the intersection of Big A Road and Collins Road.

“During the investigation, it was determined that the handgun that was used was actually one that had been reported stolen from 210 Lewis St. earlier,” Mize said. “It was a 45-caliber handgun that had been stolen from a residence.”

The weapon has not been recovered.

“At this time, we are still in the process of trying to locate where the firearm was taken or disposed after the shooting, but we do have those two in custody and charged with aggravated assault in that case,” Mize said.
