Former gubernatorial candidate indicted on charges of insurance fraud, making false statements

A former gubernatorial candidate will face a courtroom after being indicted for insurance fraud and making false claims.

State Sentator Michael Williams told GBI investigators that someone broke into his Hall County campaign office and stole about $300,000 in computers just before the May primary, according to the AJC.

The Forsyth County Republican and his campaign manager, Seth Weathers, told detectives the computers were used to mine cryptocurrency.

Neither Williams or Weathers have commented on the charges.
