Gardner-Webb dominates in 97-60 win over Savannah State

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) — Jose Perez scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Nate Johnson added 15 points and Gardner-Webb dominated down low in beating Savannah State 97-60 on Saturday.

DJ Laster scored 14 points, David Efianayi had 13 and Justin Jenkins 12 for the Runnin' Bulldogs (4-5), who held the Tigers to 28 percent shooting and outscored them 48-14 in the paint.

John Grant Jr. opened with a 3-pointer, but Christian Turner's go-ahead 3 sparked a 9-2 run and the Bulldogs led 28-8 after scoring 15 straight. Laster scored 10 points and Gardner-Webb led 49-29 at halftime after outscoring the Tigers 32-8 in the paint

Johnson's opening layup sparked an 8-3 run and the Bulldogs pulled away to a 33-point second-half lead on Laster's jumper with seven minutes left.

Jaquan Dotson led the Tigers (3-7) with 15 points and Tyrell Harper added 10.
