Family displaced and home in Dacula badly damaged by fire

Investigators are working to determine the cause of a fire that damaged a home in Dacula Wednesday evening.

Gwinnett County Fire Department spokesman Donald Strother said the fire happened just after 8 p.m. and started in the kitchen area.

"They noticed a loud pop, as well as flames coming out from under the kitchen door," Strother said. "We cannot rule out electrical as the source."

Strother said the family quickly evacated the home on Fence Road, and no one was injured.

The family of three adults, one child and a pet are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
