Boys basketball: Dawson County, Buford claim league victories; Branch downs Mill Creek

DAWSONVILLE — Dawson County warmed up for Friday's showdown at East Hall with a 59-44 win over North Hall on Wednesday in Dawsonville.

Jeremiah Crumley scored 20 points -- including his 1,000th career point -- to help the Tigers (11-3, 3-0 Region 7-AAA) to the victory. He also pulled down 6 rebounds, while Cullen Reed added 23 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and provided 4 assists.

Dawson and East Hall are each undefeated in 7-AAA play and will face off at approximately 8:30 p.m. in Valhalla.


FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS 50,
MILL CREEK 48

Myles Janess scored 19 points and grabbed 7 rebounds to help the Falcons (10-5) to a hardfought win on Wednesday in Hoschton. 

Justin Quick also put up 15 points, 9 rebounds and 6 steals for the Branch, while Patsheko Lutumba scored 8 and had 4 rebounds. 

The Falcons will take on Clarke Central at 8:30 p.m. Friday.


BUFORD BOYS 81,
CLARKE CENTRAL 65

The Wolves (11-2, 3-0 Region 8-AAAAA) led just 44-41 at the half but controlled the second half to notch the win on Wednesday in Buford.

Donell Nixon scored 22 points to pace the Wolves, while Marcus Watson and David Viti each added 18 points. Alex Jones also scored 10 in the win.

Martavious Darden paced Clarke Central with 21 points.

Buford outscored Clarke Central 19-11 in the fourth quarter.

The Wolves play again on Friday at Walnut Grove.
