Demorest issues Boil Water Advisory for customers who experienced low pressure

Any Demorest water customer who experienced an outage or low pressure as a result of Irma should boil all water used for consumption.

The City of Demorest issued a Boil Water Advisory Wednesday morning for those affected customers, wherever they are located in the water system.

In order to protect the public from a potential health hazard, all citizens who are water customers of the City of Demorest and were affected by loss of water or low pressure are advised to boil all water prior to use for drinking, cooking, or preparing baby food .

Water should be boiled for at least one minute after reaching a rolling boil.

Citizens should continue to boil their water until they are notified by the City of Demorest that the water system has been restored to full operation and that the microbiological quality of the water in the distribution system is safe for human consumption. The City of Demorest will issue a public notice to lift the advisory.

Water customers can call the offices of Demorest City Hall at (706) 778-4202 or [email protected] if they have questions or concerns.
