Softball: North Hall edges GAC; Chestatee, East Hall, Stephens, Buford each victorious

GAINESVILLE — The North Hall softball team pulled ahead late and held on for a 3-2 win over Greater Atlanta Christian on Tuesday in Gainesville.  

Kendyl Chase drove in the winning run in the bottom of the fifth, breaking a 2-2 tie. The RBI also helped Chase in the pitching circle after a five strikeout, complete game performance.

GAC took a first inning lead only for the Lady Trojans to tie the score at 2-2 when Kailee Dyer singled to drive in two runs in the second inning. Dyer finished 1 for 3.

North Hall finished the contest without a single error, as GAC managed five hits.


CHESTATEE 7, 
DAWSON COUNTY 1

The Lady War Eagles used a strong pitching performance from Beth Eddins, who allowed just five hits and one run while striking out eight in a complete game performance.

Eddins also scored two run and had two hits, including a double at the plate to aid her own performance, while Hannah Jones went 2 for 4 with an RBI and run scored. Kylie Sargent also went 2 for 4, as Chestatee racked up 12 hits C Roper also provided two hits for Chestatee, while Danielle Ortega and Bailey Mason also doubled.

The Lady War Eagles took a 3-0 lead in the third and never looked back.


EAST HALL 5,
FANNIN COUNTY 3

The Lady Vikings got out to a five-run lead in the third inning and held on for the victory on Tuesday. Fannin County scored three runs in the failed comeback on a single by Kyla Seabolt in the fifth, a groundout in the fifth, and a single by Maddie Johnson in the seventh. 

East Hall grabbed an early lead on a three-run home run by Steffanie Redmon and a groundout by Peyton Turner in the first inning. 

Macy Banks earned the win for the Lady Vikings, tossing 6 2/3 innings, surrendering three runs, six hits, and striking out eight. Cassidy Nichols took the loss for Fannin County. Nichols went 6 innings, surrendering five runs, seven hits, striking out three, and walking one. 

Abigail Brown, Kaitlyn Daniel, and Jennifer Lopez each collected two hits to lead East Hall at the plate.


STEPHENS COUNTY 1,
FRANKLIN COUNTY 0

Emma Whitfield didn't allow a single run as the Lady Indians blanked the Lady Lions. Whitfield allowed just two hits in the contest and struck out 14.

Stephens County broke the deadlock with two outs in the ninth inning to push the first run across the plate, as Ivey Andrews doubled.

Andrews finished 1 for 2 at the plate.


BUFORD 11,
SOUTH FORSYTH 5

The Lady Wolves (5-1) came from behind to defeat the Lady War Eagles in Cumming. Kelsey Bennett, smacked two two-run home runs and finished the game with four RBI to help lead Buford's fightback. Skyler Jenkins also entered the game in the fifth inning and contributed three RBI to help seal the Buford victory.  

Ansleigh Hollifield pitched 4 innings in the circle, picking up her second win of the season, allowing five runs off eight hits. Ansley Byers pitched the last 3 innings to earn the save.

Janelle Mathis also went 3 for 4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored for Buford, while Arielle Oda was 2 for 4 with four runs scored and three stolen bases.

The Lady Wolves travel to Mill Creek on Wednesday to begin play in the Hawk/Bulldog tournament sponsored by Mill Creek and North Gwinnett High Schools.  Their opponent will be Winder/Barrow. Game time is 5 p.m.
