Youth golf: Simmons 2nd at Callaway; Davidson claims Chattahoochee tourney

Gainesville High golf standout Brody Simmons shot a two-day total of four-over-par to finish tied for second at this weekend's Callaway Gardens Junior Classic on the PGA Junior Tour's Georgia Section.

Simmons fired a 74 on both days to finish six shots off the pace set by Hartnell's Eli Scott, while fellow Red Elephant Ryan Hogan finished in fourth place at 151 (76, 75).

Gainesville resident Griffin Orzech also finished tied for ninth (156).


DAVIDSON WINS CHATTAHOOCHEE CLASSIC

Flowery Branch's Ryan Davidson won a playoff against Atlanta's Anthony Ford II to claim the boys 12-14 age division in the two-day Chattahoochee Classic at Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville.

Davidson carded a 74 and a 76 to finish tied with a six-over-par 150 in the Georgia Junior Golf Tour event.

Gainesville's Sam Patterson also finished third with a 158, while Wiley Hickerson tied for eighth (172).

In the boys 14-18 division, Flowery Branch's Connor Gillespie finished tied for 20th, with a 165, while Buford's Walt Smith was 26th (169) and Flowery Branch's Tyler Stauffer was 34th (187).
