Buford man charged in fatal 985 multi-vehicle crash

A Buford man is facing two counts of homicide by vehicle and other charges in a wreck on Interstate 985 Sunday that killed two and injured several others.

William Robinson, 33, faces the two charges as well as no seatbelt and following too closely, according to a news release from the Georgia State Patrol.

Troopers said in the release the wreck was a chain reaction. Three vehicles were stopped behind stopped traffic in the left lane. Robinson's Ford F-150 struck a Ford F-150 that was slowing and preparing to stop behind the three vehicles that had already stopped in the left lane.

The second Ford contained Virginia Hiscock, 66, and William Hiscock, 55, both of whom were fatally injured, and Joshua Gravely, 31, and Mary Lancaster, 25, who were both transported to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center. All four were from Whitesburg, Georgia.

The truck that was hit then pushed forward, striking the vehicle in front of it. This continued with each vehicle up until the fifth.

Several others, including three children, were injured in the wreck. The release stated the other vehicles involved were a 2012 Nissan Versa, 2017 GMC Yukon and 2009 Chevrolet Traverse.

Emmalee Miles, 8, of Buford was Robinson's passenger in one of the Ford F-150s. She was transported by Air to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Amalia Lara, 35; Isabel Rodriguez, 19; Genesis Rodriguez, 11; and Heide Rodriguez, 16, all of Flowery Branch were transported to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center. They were in the Traverse.

The Nissan Versa contained Angela Kisebwe, 22, of Gainesville. She was uninjured in the wreck, as were those in the Yukon. Genevieve Carroll, 51; Aiden Carroll, 12; Anelia Carroll, 20; Corinna Carroll, 16, all of Tallahasee, Fla. were in that vehicle.
