Gainesville men arrested after chase in Lumpkin, White counties

The Georgia State Patrol has released details of a two-county chase that ended just west of Cleveland Wednesday night.

The vehicle pursuit began about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday on Ga. 60 at Golden Avenue in Lumpkin County, according to Cpl. Spencer Munger of GSP Post 6 in Gainesville.

“The suspect vehicle, a 2017 Jeep Patriot, immediately fled from Trooper 1st Class Gianoulis of Post 37 in Cumming and Cadet Holman, who is in field training, when they attempted to initiate a traffic stop,” Munger said. “The pursuit ultimately ended in White County on Ga. 115 at Town Creek Road when troopers conducted a PIT maneuver, which was successful.”

The Jeep’s driver, Devon Reid, 18, of Gainesville was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act, felony fleeing and attempting to elude, misdemeanor obstruction and numerous other charges, Munger said.

A passenger in the vehicle, Dylan Reid, 17, of Gainesville, was arrested on an outstanding warrant, Munger said. Three other occupants of the vehicle were released.

No injuries were reported.
