Georgia sheriff: Man shoots friend while wrestling

By The Associated Press

MONROE, Ga. (AP) — A former Marine from Atlanta has been charged with murder after authorities say a playful wrestling match turned fatal.

Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman tells local media that 38-year-old Daniel Tabor Reed shot his friend around 1 a.m. Saturday at a home in Monroe. The name of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of his family.

Chapman says the two friends were both former Marines and wrestling playfully, but their fighting escalated and resulted in Reed shooting his friend.

Reed is held in the Walton County jail, and it is unclear if he has an attorney.

Further details have not been released.
