GAINESVILLE — The semifinals are set for the Region 8-A basketball tournament, and of the eight boys and girls teams remaining, five are from northeast Georgia.
Both Lakeview Academy teams were already through to the semifinals -- which will take place on Friday in the Lions' gym in Gainesville -- and they will be joined by both Tallulah Falls teams and the Towns County boys.
The Indians took out Prince Avenue Christian, 54-39 on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Tallulah Falls boys defeated George Walton Academy 43-32, and the Tallulah Falls girls defeated Athens Academy 54-46, both on Wednesday.
Also, the George Walton girls defeated Towns County 51-24.
The semifinal schedule features the Tallulah Falls girls against Prince Avenue at 4 p.m., while the Tallulah Falls boys face Athens Christian at 5:30 p.m. The Lakeview girls follow with a contest against George Walton at 7 p.m., and the Lions battle Towns County at 8:30 p.m.
