Boys basketball: Gainesville, Dawson, Jefferson, Banks County each claim victory

ATHENS — The Gainesville boys basketball team took out Cedar Shoals 81-67 on Tuesday in Athens.

Kajuan Hale scored 15 points to pace the Red Elephants, while Bailey Minor and Xavier Bledson each scored 12 in the win.

Gainesville plays host to Choctaw at 6 p.m. Wednesday

The Tigers notched the victory courtesy an 11-2 scoring advantage in overtime while taking on their fourth game in five days on Tuesday in Oakwood.

The two squads battled to a 47-47 tie through regulation.

Campbell Reed torched the Spartans for 31 points, including seven made 3-pointers, while Cullen Reed added 12 points. Ryan Gallenkamp also grabbed 15 rebounds for Dawson County.

 

JEFFERSON BOYS 79,
CROSS KEYS 17

The Jefferson boys basketball team continues to impress in the early part of the campaign.

The Dragons won their fourth straight game Tuesday night with a rout of Cross Keys on a neutral court. The win streak is as long as the Dragons (6-5) won total games all of last season.

A.J. Wells paced Jefferson with 15 points. Jacob Radaker added 12 points and Jasper Gibson had 11 points for the Dragons.

Jefferson next will travel to West Hall on Thursday. Tip-off for the boys game is approximately 5:30 p.m. after the girls 4 p.m. tip.

 

BANKS COUNTY BOYS 66,
MONTICELLO 61

The Leopards (8-0, 1-0 Region 8-AA) opened region play with a victory on Tuesday.

Dylan Orr paced Banks County with 28 points, while Carl Cleveland chipped in with 20 points. Gabe Martin also scored 16 points for the Leopards.
