Atlanta United adds draft pick, two players from Sporting KC

ATLANTA — Atlanta United today announced it has acquired Kevin Oliveira, Tyler Pasher and Sporting Kansas City’s natural second-round pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft in exchange for Kenwyne Jones, Alex Tambakis and Atlanta’s natural fourth-round pick in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft. 

Oliveira, a 21-year-old midfielder, joined Swope Park Rangers from Benfica B ahead of the USL team’s inaugural season in February 2016. He made 28 appearances from 2016-2017, scoring six goals and contributing nine assists. In September of 2017, Oliveira signed with Sporting Kansas City and made two appearances for the MLS club. Internationally, Oliveira made his debut for Cape Verde on October 7, 2017 in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Senegal.

Pasher, a 25-year-old fullback, joined Sporting Kansas City prior to the 2017 season and made one appearance. He previously played with Swope Park Rangers (2016), Pittsburgh Riverhounds (2015), Lansing United (2014) and in Finland’s third division with PS Kemi (2013).

\Atlanta United now has four selections in the upcoming 2018 SuperDraft in January. The club holds each of its natural selections in the first two rounds of the draft, in addition to LAFC’s natural fourth-round selection.
