Flowery Branch woman accused of stealing $40k from employer

A suspect remained in the Hall County Jail Wednesday morning, accused of stealing more than $40,000 from her Oakwood employer.

According to Oakwood Police Sergeant Todd Templeton, Teresa Lynn Bruce, 50, of Flowery Branch, allegedly took the money from Lanier Federal Credit Union.

Bruce is accused of altering and manipulating credit union records to steal the money between early 2016 and early 2017.

Templeton said the credit union contacted police about irregularities with an audit this March.  He said credit union officials worked with police in the investigation.

Police recently obtained arrest warrants, and Bruce was taken into custody, according to Templeton.

Bruce was booked into the jail Monday afternoon on charges of first degree forgery, identity theft/fraud and felony theft by taking.  She was being held on $65,500 bond, according to the county's online inmate population list.
