UPDATE: Manhunt subject carjacked, kidnapped elderly woman

Authorities from several agencies continue a manhunt in Barrow County.

According to a release from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, police are seeking a man wanted on multiple charges including a kidnapping in Walton County that ended with the victim being located in Barrow County.

The Associated Press reports that the victim is an 81-year-old woman, who was taken from her home in the Loganville area and thrown into the trunk of a stolen vehicle. Authorities found her after the suspect, John Christopher Calhoun, crashed the vehicle. 

The 29-year-old Calhoun is described as being six-feet tall, weighing 260 pounds.  He has brown hair, hazel eyes, a goatee and tattoos.  He is believed to be wearing a white t-shirt.

Calhoun is considered armed and dangerous.

Along with the GBI, several other agencies have participated in the manhunt since Sunday afternoon, including the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office, Winder Police, Auburn Police, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol.

Authorities are asking anyone knowing Calhoun’s whereabouts to contact local law enforcement immediately.
