ROSWELL, Ga. (AP) Roswell police are searching for two men accused of assaulting an officer and slashing him with a knife. <br />

Department spokeswoman Lisa Holland said in an emailed statement that the officer was patrolling the parking lot of an apartment complex on Wednesday and was attacked after he exited his car to try talking to two suspicious men. <br />

Holland says the officer was cut on his face and forearm and fired shots at the men, who fled on foot. <br />
<br />
The suspects are described as two black men wearing black hooded sweaters. Holland says one of the men's sweaters had a question mark graphic on the front and the second suspect was heavyset with dreadlocks. <br />
<br />
Holland says the 15-year veteran officer had to have stitches and is expected to recover.
