Woman dies after scooter collision in Forsyth

CUMMING - An accident between a motorized scooter and car earlier today in North Forsyth County killed the driver of the scooter.

The victim, 21-year-old Kirsti Sue Baiel of Cumming, entered the intersection of McCoy Circle and Spot Road at the light and was struck by a 2012 Chrysler 300 at 10:45 this morning. Baiel was thrown from the scooter upon impact.

According to Forsyth County Sheriff's Deputy Doug Rainwater, Baiel was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and was alive when authorities arrived and taken to Northside Hospital.

"She was alive at the scene, they took her to surgery thereafter. She died at 2:38 pm at the hospital from the injuries she received in the traffic accident," said Deputy Rainwater.

The driver of the Chrysler, Christopher Rubessa, 20, was not injured and did not have any passengers.

There were no witnesses of the accident. Currently there are no charges and the accident is still under investigation
