Author of "The Survivalist" series dies

JEFFERSON - A memorial service is planned at a later date for Jerry Ahern of Jefferson, an award-winning and internationally known writer, who died earlier this week.

Ahern, 66, was the author of more than 80 novels, including "The Survivalist" series, numerous non-fiction books as well as thousands of magazine articles.

Ahern died Tuesday following a recent and aggressive cancer.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
