8-A tournament: Lady Lions beat Athens Academy, take third seed

GAINESVILLE -- The Lakeview Academy girls will be the No. 3 seed from Region 8-A after taking a 34-29 win over Athens Academy Saturday night in the consolation game of the region tournament.

Kaylee McClendon and Taylor Handte each scored 12 points for the Lady Lions, who will be making their first playoff appearance in three years.

handte and Mona Abrham each had four points in the final period to help the Lady Lions hold off the Lady Spartans.
