Boys basketball: Knights rally to beat Lanier

SUGAR HILL -- The Johnson boys won their first Region 8B-AAA game with a 63-49 win over Lanier Tuesday night.

Johnson had the early first quarter lead but then trailed 25-23 going into halftime. The Knights grabbed control of the game with a 16-11 third quarter and then put the game away in the fourth quarter outscoring Lanier 24-13 in the finals period.

Montrell McKenzie paced Johnson (9-10, 1-5 in subregion) with a triple-double -- 19 points, 13 blocks, and 11 rebounds. Ty Odem added 17 points and Matt Hollis had 15 for the Knights.

Lanier (10-9, 2-4 8B-AAA) was led by Zac Winburk with 18 points.
