G-Braves Fall to the Knights, 9-2

CHARLOTTE- The Charlotte Knights beat the Gwinnett Braves 9-2 Saturday night at Knights Stadium, snapping Gwinnett's 2-game overall winning streak and 4-game winning streak against Charlotte. The G-Braves were buried from the very beginning as the Knights scored three runs in the first inning and three more in the third to take a 6-0 lead against starter Scott Diamond. Gwinnett (71-70) failed to clinch a winning record for 2010, but can still hit the mark with one win in its final two games. The G-Braves remain 15 games behind Durham in the International League South Division, and seven games behind Louisville in the Wild Card standings. Charlotte (66-76) remains in last place in the IL South, 21.5 games behind Durham.

On Deck: Gwinnett continues its final series of the season, facing the Charlotte Knights for the second of three games at Knights Stadium at 7:15 p.m. Sunday. Jose Ortegano (3-10, 6.12 ERA) will take the mound for the G-Braves against Freddy Dolsi (2-7, 5.15 ERA) for Charlotte. The game will be broadcast on the radio at WDUN-550 AM. The pre-game will air at 6:45pm.
