Second Ga. worksite fatality reported in 10 days

By The Associated Press
PORT WENTWORTH - Less than two weeks after Jeffrey Thurman of Cumming was crushed to death while working at A.T. Specialty, a worker has been killed in Port Wentworth after a forklift-like machine at the Weyerhaeuser plant crushed him.

The Port Wentworth accident happened Thursday night at approximately 7:18.

Authorities identify the dead man as 42-year-old Robbie Cecil Linton.

Port Wentworth Fire Chief Greg Long says he was conscious and alert when he went to Memorial University Medical Center, but authorities say he succumbed to his injuries Friday.

Weyerhaeuser's onsite first responders tended to Linton's injuries until Port Wentworth Fire, Savannah-Chatham police and MedStar paramedics arrived.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials also responded to the incident.
