Winder man killed in five-car crash on I-85

ATHENS - A Winder man has been identified as the person killed in that five-car crash on Interstate 85 in Jackson County last Friday.

Officials with the Georgia State Patrol Athens Post said 41-year-old Robert Mcilwain was killed near Dry Pond Road when his car was hit by a tractor trailer, was pushed into the path of another semi-truck and overturned.

GSP officials said the driver of the tractor trailer that hit Mcilwain sustained serious injuries. They also said Mcilwain was wearing a seat belt.
