OMAHA, Neb. -- Fresno State's improbable postseason run will end by playing for a national championship against Georgia in an all-Bulldogs College World Series final.
Tommy Mendonca drove in four runs and the Fresno Bulldogs defeated North Carolina 6-1 to win their bracket in the College World Series. Clayton Allison came back from a shoulder ailment to allow one run over six innings. Fourth-seeded Fresno State is the lowest-seeded team ever to reach the College World Series final.
Fresno State will play Georgia in the best-of-three championship series starting Monday. Georgia is the first team to bounce back from a losing season to reach the finals the following year. Georgia won the College World Series title in 1990. This is Fresno State's first time in the finals.
