Cold weather to ring in New Year

UNDATED - Bitterly cold weather will usher in the New Year across north Georgia Monday night... with sub-zero wind chills expected Tuesday and Wednesday in most places, includng Gainesville.

By the time 2008 arrives, lows are expected to be in the low 30s in Gainesville. And, that's just the beginning.

"We're going to feel the difference with highs (Tuesday) in the 40s and Wednesday in the 30s," according to the Weather Channel's John Askins who adds that strong winds both days will push wind chills to around -5.

Lows in the teens and 20s are expected each night through Friday... with snow showers expected Tuesday in the Clayton area but with little or no accumulation.
